Aside from Alfred Stieglitz and Georgia O’keefe there was no greater photographic couple than Harry Callahan and Eleanor Callahan. Their’s it seemed to me, was a very gentle and respectful relationship. Eleanor was his muse and for 50 years Harry Callahan photographed his model wife in all sorts of poses and locations; always gentle, always respectful. Sadly, Eleanor Callahan passed away on Tuesday. I liked what Mr. James Danziger said in his post:
Here’s hoping that a match made in heaven continues where it began.
As a photographer one can’t help but be tempted to photograph what is close at hand, what is loved and what is known. I am no exception.
