I have been asked many times, and I am sure you have to, that inane question regarding the need for professional photographers now that everyone has a camera. Citizen photojournalism they call it. Tragically the bombing of The Boston Marathon on Monday served as a reminder as to why professional photographers are necessary. Just like first responders, professional photojournalist will run towards and event not away from it.
